Local Soldier Goes Skydiving

An East Texas soldier home from Iraq was given two weeks to do whatever he wanted and he decided he wanted to fly. This evening, Lieutenant Matthew Wilson, surrounded by his family, went skydiving at the East Texas Skydiving Club in Gladewater. This is his first time to take the plunge.

Wilson, who leaves for Iraq Sunday, says he wanted to make his trip home unforgettable, "It's something I've never done before, and it's something I wanted to try. I have a little bit of time off coming back from Iraq and I like the adrenaline rush and I wanted to give skydiving a try."

Lieutenant Wilson is a West Point graduate and has two more years of service.
