Builders put finishing touches on Parade of Homes

Posted: Updated:

On Friday, builders worked to put the finishing touches on the homes that will be featured in the 2013 Tyler Area Builders' Association Parade of Homes.

Whether you are looking to buy a home or just checking out some of the latest features builders are offering, there are 28 homes featured in the parade that kicks off Saturday.

Cody Scates' parade home was finished early Friday.

The home is nestled in a Tyler neighborhood called "The Crossing".

"We thought there was a good nitch in the market for basically a higher end home just on a smaller, more manageable scale," Scates explained.

It is one of 11 exclusive garden homes designed and built by Scates and his company, The Scates Group.

They have already sold several of the homes, but this one, finished just in time for the parade, is now available for the person who falls in love with it's transitional style.

"We have tried to balance out some of the modern elements as well as some of the rustic touches here and there. And just kind of try to create a good, cozy, clean, simple feel," Scates said.

Fully maintained yards, custom built cabinets and wood ceilings, double shower heads, and even a heated tub, elements Scates hopes will draw in the perfect buyer.

"We basically tried to concentrate on high-end features like you see with the range and the Carrera marble, the wood floors, your beam, just to create an overall good feeling home and a good impression that you know you're in a good quality built house," Scates explained.

The best feature? Scates believes it is the consistency of quality throughout the house. He said it does not matter which room of the house you are in, guest bedroom or the master suite, he wants the future owner of this home to know there is no drop off in quality.

The parade runs from June 1 through the 9.

On Saturdays they are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sundays, the homes will be open from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday they are open 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
