GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

On Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a home in Gregg County and found that a two-year-old boy had drowned.

The family of the boy awoke to find the little boy missing. The family began searching for him and located the boy next door in the neighbor's swimming pool. The child's father pulled him from the pool and immediately called paramedics.

The toddler was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center where he died.

"Every indication right now it appears to be just an accident," said Lt. Kirk Haddix with the Gregg County Sheriff's Department. "We need to follow up. There's just a few unanswered questions we need to ask the family and the neighbors, and we'll follow up from there."

Authorities are still trying to figure out how the little boy managed to get through the fence.
