High Hopes For Lumberjacks

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks face high expectations as they set to open their season Thursday. They host Division II Henderson State, sporting a #16 national ranking and look to challenge for the Southland Conference title. They are led by pre-season all-americans fullback Eric Chapman and linebacker Jeremy Davis, who will be key in helping stop the Reddies triple option offense.

"We don't care that Henderson State is a divsion II squad," said Davis.  "They're coming in here, they're pumped up, they're ready. We just got to come out and perform at our level and not drop our game."

Former Robert E. Lee and Texas A&M standout running back Derek Farmer sat out last Wedensday's scrimmage but is expected to play Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Homer Bryce Stadium.
