HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man is behind bars facing multiple charges after Harrison County authorities said he evaded arrest.

Billy Don Pirtle ,46, of Longview is in the Harrison County Jail on a $32,500 bond.

Harrison County authorities said the chase started around 3:20 a.m. at the intersection of I-20 and Loop 281.

Deputy Jay Webb with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department said Pirtle was driving his Honda motorcycle without operating headlights or taillights. Webb said when a deputy tried to pull Pirtle over, he took off.

Webb said Pirtle drove through Gregg County, Upshur County, and back into Harrison County at a high speed.

Deputy Webb said Pirtle then tried to evade deputies by turning left onto a gravel roadway and lost control of his motorcycle.

That's when authorities said they made the arrest. Pirtle now faces charges of evading arrest or detention with a previous conviction, possession of marijuana, no driver's license, and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Authorities said this is Pirtle's fifth incident of fleeing and attempting to evade from police.
