Health District To Hold Emergency Meeting

The Smith County Public Health District is looking for ways to keep costs down after the county proposed cutting what they contribute to the district by half. Last year the county budgeted $600,000 to the district.

The cuts may force the district to eliminate many of their services. Health department workers have called an emergency meeting to talk about the proposed cuts. The public is also invited to attend.

The meeting is set for Tuesday, August 31 at 5 p.m. It will be held in the Genecov room of the Blackstone Building in downtown Tyler.
