MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Tennessee Task Force One, based out of Memphis, was activated to respond to Oklahoma Monday night.

Sponsored by the Memphis and Shelby County emergency management agency, TNTF-1 was scheduled for deployment early Tuesday morning.

Roughly 80 personnel will be going to the Oklahoma City area along with four to six K-9 units and several big trucks loaded with essential supplies.

At least 51 people have died after a second day of tornadoes twisted through Oklahoma, this time taking aim at the town of Moore, south of Oklahoma City.

The National Weather Service described the storm as large and violent, and area hospitals are treating about 60 people. Read more here.

The Task Force operations are coordinated through the Memphis Fire Department. TNTF-1 is made up of various emergency response personnel from area fire departments, emergency management personnel, other emergency response professionals and volunteer members from the community.

Coincidentally, the team recently trained using new mock-ups of collapsed building interiors, which they will encounter in the coming days.
