BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) -

Matthew 25: Ministries is preparing shipments of relief supplies for residents of Oklahoma, following the destruction caused by Sunday evening's tornadoes and the additional devastating storms on Monday.

As many as 28 tornadoes were reported in Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and Iowa yesterday, according to the National Weather Service, with Oklahoma and Kansas hardest hit. At least two persons died and dozens were injured.  An estimated 300 homes were damaged or destroyed across Oklahoma. Today, a massive tornado has ripped through the suburbs south of Oklahoma City.

Earlier Monday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado emergency for the Oklahoma City metro area. This is a rare warning from the weather service, one it issues only "when a severe threat to human life and catastrophic damage from a tornado is imminent or ongoing."

Matthew 25: Ministries' advance team will leave for Oklahoma on Tuesday, May 21 with their first shipment of disaster relief supplies.

Matthew 25 is working with disaster relief partner Procter & Gamble to send relief products, including P&G personal and household care brands to those in the affected communities. Matthew 25's initial shipments will include basic relief supplies such as blankets, tarps, personal care kits and products, cleaning supplies and baby products.

"This is some of the worst destruction from a tornado I have seen since I have been responding to disasters," says M25M's Disaster Relief Coordinator and CEO Tim Mettey. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted by these devastating storms. We are working with our partners to do everything we can to help victims recover from this devastating event.  We will continue responding as long as there is a need."

Matthew 25: Ministries accepts cash, credit card and internet donations for ongoing disaster aid and humanitarian relief programs. For the most up-to-date information about Matthew 25: Ministries' humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts please visit their website at www.m25m.org
