TROUP, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities have determined that a late night fire that broke out in Troup on Sunday was an arson.

Troup Police said 37-year old Ourtia Clay Washington confessed to starting the blaze after a domestic dispute at the residence earlier Sunday afternoon.

The fire started at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at 210 W. Melton St.

Investigators said they found hay throughout the home, but are not sure what the source of the ignition was.

Washington was found hiding in a closet at a Tyler apartment after police received a tip and executed a warrant on the residence.

He has been arrested, with bond set at $100,000.
