Most of East Texas under moderate risk for severe weather Tuesday

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

There is a very good chance for severe weather over a fairly large portion of East Texas on Tuesday. Most of East Texas, north of a line from Crockett to Nacogdoches to Center, is under a MODERATE RISK for severe weather tomorrow. Only the southern sections of East Texas, at this time, are under a SLIGHT RISK.

With that said, as a cold front moves into North Texas tomorrow, the areas out ahead of the front will be very warm, very humid and very unstable. The lower and mid-levels of the atmosphere should be primed for a severe weather outbreak over East Texas tomorrow.

Most of the severe weather should be during the afternoon to evening hours as we warm into the middle 80s, but we may begin to see severe storms over the western and northwestern sections of East Texas tomorrow morning.

Large hail, damaging thunderstorm winds near 70 mph, frequent and deadly lightning and the possibility of isolated tornadoes will exist. If a tornado warning is issued for your area, remember that a SMALL, WINDOWLESS, INTERIOR ROOM is the safest place for you to go, short of a tornado shelter or basement.

We will continue to fine tune this forecast over the next several hours, but at this time, tomorrow should be an active day across most all of our area.
