HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado damaged homes and businesses Thursday in Harrison County.

An EF-1 tornado has estimated wind speeds of 86-110 miles per hour.

Thursday, one of the metal buildings on Five Star Builders' property was leveled by high winds. Sheet metal and wood framing was scattered hundreds of yards in several directions. Workers spent several hours removing debris and retrieving any salvageable materials from inside the building.

The roof of a mobile home behind the business was damaged by airborne debris when the storm passed through around 2:20 p.m. A family with a small child was inside at the time, but were unharmed.

In 2010, an EF3 tornado hit the same location, ripping off the roof of Five Star Builders.

KLTV 7 meteorologist Grant Dade and anchor Lane Luckie arrived on the scene just minutes after the presumed tornado hit. They spent the afternoon tracking severe weather in the Mobile StormTracker chase vehicle. After checking on the family and reporting the damage to the National Weather Service, they came across another victim of powerful weather.

About a mile away, a tree fell on a pickup along Farm to Market Road 9, south of Waskom. The trunk of a pine tree completely crushed the cab of a Ford F-150. Two people inside were transported from the scene by ambulance. Friday morning, the driver remained hospitalized. Power lines in the area were knocked down, interrupting utilities to homes in the area.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office said it received reports of damage in Marshall, Waskom, Elysian Fields.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, and Waskom Police also responded.
