WEST, TX (KLTV) -

The findings of an investigation into the explosion of a fertilizer facility in West is set to be announced Thursday, state officials confirmed.

The Texas State Fire Marshal's Office will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon at the damaged West High School to reveal their findings in the near-month-long investigation.

The explosion at the West Fertilizer Company on April 17 killed 15 people and damaged hundreds of homes in the small Central Texas town.

West High School, the site of Thursday's announcement, was heavily damaged in the blast.

Investigators from various agencies including the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms have been scouring the plant site and the 93-foot crater left after the blast.

Friday, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced the Texas Rangers were joining the McLennan County Sheriff's Office in a criminal investigation.

"We want to ensure that no stone goes unturned and that all the facts related to this incident are uncovered,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw.

“The citizens of McLennan County and Texas must have confidence that this incident has been looked at from every angle and professionally handled – they deserve nothing less,” said McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara.
