POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Chester man was killed just after 11:00 PM Saturday night in a one-vehicle crash.

The DPS report says Alexander Neal Johnson, 21, of Chester was killed after his 2010 Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on US 287 in Polk County (6.5 miles east of U.S. 59) when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire.

He was pronounced by Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Judge, David Johnson. His next of kin has been notified.

DPS says Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt.

No other injuries were reported. It is unclear if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
