Severe weather threat farther southwest today

Posted: Updated:

Yesterday's strong line of thunderstorms has produced an area of rain cooled air which in turn has helps push our cold front a little farther south. This looks as though it will keep the severe weather south and west of the Trinity River this afternoon.

In addition to our front being a little farther south, a complex of storms has develop and is moving towards the upper Texas Coast. This will rob the return moisture needed for thunderstorm development.

Although an isolated thunderstorm is not out of the question the threat of severe weather now seems very low across all of East Texas.

If the front were to drift back to the north later today ahead of our next disturbance then are far southern counties could still see a strong storms or two but right now this scenario seems unlikely.
