Warren Co. memorial honors Sgt. Brian Dulle

Two years ago a Warren County sheriff's deputy was killed. Sgt. Brian Dulle was laying down stop sticks along a roadway when he was struck by a suspect fleeing from authorities in a stolen vehicle.

In Lebanon on Friday, memorials in Sgt. Dulle's honor were dedicated.

Sgt. Brian Dulle's death shocked the sheriff's department and the community. His father, Ed Dulle, says this memorial outside of the Warren County Sheriff's Department is a fitting tribute to a lawman who made the ultimate sacrifice for the community he loved.

"I see now why. These people here are great. The outpouring from the community, the community support, the department," said Ed Dulle.

The memorials represented a department doing its best to keep alive the memory of one of their own.

Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims says the tribute to Sgt. Dulle also serves as a reminder of the deadly risks that comes with the job.

"When you get into the law enforcement arena, this is what you know can happen. We certainly don't want it to happen, but you know that you're willing to put your life to keep our community safe," said Sims.

Sgt. Dulle's children helped unveil the memorial, and Dulle's father says his son would have been pleased.

"Brian was a very sentimental person. He wouldn't throw away something that my dad gave me, a tool or a hammer, and although he was very private and didn't like a lot of fanfare, this will mean a lot to him, and he knows his grandkids can come here and see something 50 years from now," Dulle's father explained.

A stretch of U.S. Route 42 in Lebanon has been renamed the 'Sgt. Brian Dulle Memorial Highway' as a reminder to passing motorists of a man who laid down his life for law and order.
