A Kentucky man has been arrested after a police chase that began in Indiana and ended in Boone County, Ky.
The chase ended around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning with a crash on northbound I-71/75 at the Turfway Road exit.
According to Kentucky State Police, deputies in Switzerland County, Ind. attempted to stop Derek Snell, 19, of Bedford, after observing him driving recklessly.
Snell failed to stop and the deputies pursued the vehicle to the state line. The deputies ended their pursuit at the Markland Dam and KSP Troopers observed the vehicle at mile marker 55 of I-71 North.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle but Snell again fled. Troopers attempted to use spike strips to stop the vehicle, but Snell swerved toward the Trooper and he was unable to deploy the spikes.
The pursuit continued into Boone County before Snell's vehicle struck two other vehicles. There were no injuries in the collision.
Snell was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Theft of an Automobile, Fleeing and Evading, Wanton Endangerment, DUI, Speeding, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, No Operator's License, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Snell was lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.
