Business leaders endorse TISD bond proposal

Tyler Proud received another endorsement Monday morning for the Tyler Independent School District bond proposal.

Three East Texas business leaders endorsed the $160.5 million proposal, saying that the proposed Career and Technical Education Center will provide TISD students the workforce training and college readiness skills they need to succeed in their industries.

Endorsers included Phil Bucks, president of The Genesis Group, Faye Pettigrew of Tyler Pipe and Bob Westbrook, President of W.R. Ventures Inc. and Chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs committee.

The bond proposal includes renovating Dixie and Rice Elementary Schools, building a new Boulter Middle School, a new Moore Middle School, and a third new middle school on property off of Three Lakes Parkway in South Tyler and building the Career and Technical Education Center.

Early voting continues Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election day is Saturday, May 11.
