An innocent bystander was shot in inside her Sunset Acres home on Thursday afternoon after an argument led to gunfire outside of a nearby doctor's office.

A woman, identified by Shreveport Police as 54-year-old Dorothy Johnson, was struck in the middle of the chest and rushed to LSU Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Neighbors say Johnson has lived on the street for nearly 20 years, and is a nice person.

"It's sad that she is innocent, and this happens to her," says neighbor Jacquilla Moten.

Police have detained a man in connection with the shooting, but they say the they have not yet fully determined the extent of his role in the incident.
