Tyler Mother Frances Hospital has added a new helicopter base to better serve East Texans. The new base is located in Winnsboro, Texas on West Cole Road.
A ribbon cutting was held for officials and area emergency crews so they could get familiar with the new helicopter. It will work in conjunction with TMF's other helicopter in Palestine and will make for quicker response times, which could save lives.
"This will provide a much quicker, faster response to seriously injured or critically ill patients that are located in northeast Texas, said Stan Holden CEO of Champion EMS. "Currently our closest aircrafts are located in Tyler and this program based here out of Winnsboro will shave at least 10 to 15 minutes off that response time."
Trinity Mother Frances has been using air transport since 1986. Moving their helicopter from Tyler to Winnsboro and working along with East Texas Medical Center's helicopters allows emergency crews to spread out air support more evenly throughout East Texas.
