Cold front on schedule, all-time record lows 'May' fall

Grant, Brett and I have been talking about this cold front for many, many days now, and it is now nearing East Texas. The front is scheduled to move through the area very quickly tomorrow morning, and will finish moving through the southeast sections by mid-afternoon.

The temperatures will drop very quickly behind the boundary, starting off in the mid to upper 60s, falling into the 50s and staying there through most of the day. Winds will be out of the northwest at 15-25 mph early, then increasing to 20-30 mph with gusts higher during the late morning and throughout the afternoon.

All-time record lows for May will be in jeopardy by the end of the week as this unprecedented mass of cold air moves into the area. There is a chance Saturday morning that all-time record lows for most areas of East Texas could occur. Lows will drop once again into the upper 30s to lower 40s in many areas. The all time record low for Tyler and Longview in May is 37 and 39 in Lufkin. Temperatures will be close to these levels both Friday and Saturday morning.

Here is, what I believe, will be a helpful tip for you...for tomorrow. Make sure you and the kiddos are ready for a colder trip home from school, and you work, as winds will be strong and temperatures will be very cool tomorrow afternoon.

Just sayin'.
