No arrests made in connection with manhole cover theft

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Two individuals who allegedly stole 59 manhole covers from the City of Longview and attempted to sell them to a Harrison County scrap yard have not been arrested yet.

On Tuesday, Harrison County authorities erroneously reported that two women had been arrested in connection with the thefts. According to Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the two suspects were only "positively identified" by scrap yard staff - no arrests have been made.

The Longview Police Department is investigating the thefts.
