Investigator hired to look into school complaints

Posted: Updated:

The Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind is set to hire a private eye to investigate complaints against its superintendent.

The Arizona Daily Star reports the organization's governing board on Tuesday voted to make the hire after hearing from a raucous crowd of parents, students and employees calling for the resignation of Superintendent Robert Hill and Board President Bernhardt Jones.

Many accused the pair of poor communication and a lack of leadership. The paper reports the two are facing scrutiny from the state for potential conflicts of interest and excessive travel expenses.

Hill didn't speak during the meeting and wouldn't comment afterward.
