SPRING HILL, TX (KLTV)
On Monday night, the Spring Hill board of trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Mark Sartain as the new athletic director and head football coach.
Sartain is the former head coach of East Texas Baptist University and Trinity Valley Community College.
He spent time as a head coach in high school, with stops at Eustace and White Oak.
Sartain becomes the 4th head coach in the last four years for the Panthers.
"We're in a tough district and that's been one of the tough issues as far as coach coming in here and withstand rebuilding," said Spring Hill superintendent Wes Jones. "I think he brings that to Spring Hill, that he can withstand that pressure. He's a quality person and I look forward to my son, who's going to be a senior next year, playing for him."
Sartain was not present at the school board meeting.
He spent last season as an assistant at Union Grove.
BROOK HILL HIRES TWO COACHES
From Spring Hill to Brook Hill, the Guard welcomed two new coaches, to replace one.
Brook Hill introduced Bobby Brasher as their new head football coach and Brock Lemire as their new baseball coach.
The two fill the vacany left by Terry Pirtle, who is leaving for a job at Houston 2nd Baptist.
"Terry and I have been such good friends for so many years, we go way back to Chapel Hill in the 80's," said Brasher. "When he decided he was going to Houston, I got to thinking about it and the kids here and everything and how that may be something I like to do."
Lemire won a national title as a player at Tyler Junior College in 2007.
"I like the pressure and that standard. Playing college baseball, you're always under pressure," said Lemire. "He did a great job here and I just want to keep continuing that winning tradition which I think I'll have a very good chance of that."
Pirtle won state titles in both football and baseball in his time at Brook Hill. Copyright 2013 KLTV. All rights reserved
