A gas leak at John Soules Foods shut down Farm to Market Road 14 in both directions on Monday morning. Gas could be seen blowing up from the ground.
Utility workers from CenterPoint Energy had been on the scene doing work when they hit a four inch gas line not connected to the John Soules Foods building.
About 200 employees were evacuated for approximately 30 minutes. Employees were allowed to return to work just before 10 a.m.
Fire crews and officials from CenterPoint Energy responded to the scene. FM 14 was shut down from Donaldson Lane to just north of the plant near Marble Road.
