MT. PLEASANT, TX (KSLA) -

16 families are displaced after a fire damaged more than a dozen units at an East Texas apartment complex Sunday night.

Firefighters say it happened at the Pine Ridge Apartments in the 300 block Lakewood Drive in Mt. Pleasant. It took them 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

Firefighters say that all of the families were evacuated from their apartments. They say two apartment units were destroyed in the fire. 14 other units had fire and water damage.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters say Red Cross is helping eight of the families. The other eight families were able to stay with relatives.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
