After losing A&M scholarship, East Texan heads to TJC

Just a year ago, Taylor Rich knew where he was going to play college baseball.

The left-hander from Lovelady had a scholarship offer from Texas A&M.

Then, something happened.

Rich tore a muscle in his left shoulder and A&M pulled the scholarship.

"They did not want to get a kid that was injured, we understand that," said Mike Rich, Taylor's father. "They want to get what they are paying for, it is a business."

Now a senior, Taylor has decided on his college career.

He signed to play at Tyler Junior College this weekend.

"Coach [TJC pitching coach Travis] Chick talked with me and we decided this is a great place to play," said Rich. "This is a great program and I am excited."

Before Rich signed on Saturday, seven current Apaches signed with 4-year schools.

Rich hopes his time at TJC can do the same for him.

"I understand what happend. I am not mad," said Rich. "Now I have something to prove."
