Man accused of hammer attack sentenced to life in prison

PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man, convicted of a hammer attack on an elderly couple, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

It took a Panola County jury less than an hour to convict 21-year-old Michael Ferris of aggravated assault of a Tatum elderly couple.

Ferris was on trial for the April 2012 home invasion and hammer attack at the Tatum home of a couple, both in their 70s.

Ferris was sentenced to life in prison, with no possibility for parole until after he has served 30-years of his sentence.
