With a combined score of 15-1, both Deerfield-Windsor soccer teams have advanced to the second round of the GISA Class AAA state playoffs. The two teams were awarded with one seeds after winning their respective region titles last week.
The Lady Knights got the afternoon off to a great start after dominating 4th seeded Trinity Christian 10-0. Casey Kincheloe scored her 112th career goal tying the all time record.
Meanwhile, the Knights made easy work off Loganville Christian with a 5-1 win after a sluggish start.
Aly Joslin, the head coach for both the girl's and boy's teams hopes the soccer program will be the next great Deerfield-Windsor program synonymous with championships.
"It's good for us to also be one of those sports that is challenging for states. For the students, the parents and the teachers to know we're doing everything we can to keep the success as well."
The boys team will play at 5 p.m. while the girls will play at 7 p.m. both at home on Friday.
Over at Darton's Cavalier Field, the Sherwood Christian girl's soccer team was able to shutout Gatewood 3-0 in the first round off the AA state playoffs. Katelyn Cuff and Kylee Harrod both found the back of the net in the game. The Lady Eagles will host Frederica at Darton this weekend.
