ETX bus driver passes away after suffering an aneurysm while on route

An East Texas school bus driver has passed away after suffering an aneurysm while on a morning route.

Rusk ISD bus driver Bill Pruitt passed away in a Dallas hospital on Wednesday as a result of the aneurysm he suffered in early April.

Rusk ISD freshman Blayke Holsome took control of a bus after Bill Pruitt had a medical emergency while driving, and guided the bus, and the children on it, to safety.

Blayke jumped up, ran to the front of the bus, put it in park and then radioed out for help. He then guided the students safely to another bus.

We have exclusive footage from the bus camera of the incident and Blayke's quick response.

No children were hurt in the incident. The bus driver was taken to a Dallas hospital.
