FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -
Construction on a new
farmers market in Boone County is nearing completion.
The Friendly Market of Northern Kentucky is scheduled to open in about a month in Florence, and workers are moving fast to get the job done. Owner of
the market, Jack Berberich, says crews have been working around the clock since
"We were at work some days when it was zero or below a couple of days, but you do what you have to
do," explained Berberich.
says the 10,000 square foot market, which is located off exit 178 on I-75, will have a Findlay Market flare.
like about Findlay Market is the atmosphere, and so that is what I hope to
capture here. Not to copy, but to capture that environment, but more importantly
to support Kentucky agriculture," said Berberich.
The Friendly Market will be an outdoor farmer's pavilion, as well as a store consisting of 85% local and regional Kentucky products.
"We're going to have meats, breads made from Kentucky flour. We will have ice cream that's being made from a
family in Bowling Green, vegetables, Taste of Belgium..." added Berberich.
says his goal is to keep the tradition of farming alive in his home state.
parents had a farm. I owned a farm. Hopefully it will show the young folks they
can participate in agriculture and still have a nice living," said Berberich.
He says the farmers pavilion part of the Friendly Market will be open in 2 to 3
weeks and the store will be open by end of May.
