An East Texas woman is jailed on charges of DWI, auto theft and injury to a child. Kilgore police arrested 50 year old Julie Lynn Russ late Thursday night after investigators say she jumped into a friends car and ran into a tree, with a 6 year old child that wasn't hers, in the back seat. The vehicle's owner said Russ climbed into the car and tried to leave the owner's house in Kilgore, accelerated quickly hitting a tree in the front yard. Russ told deputies she was unaware the child was in the vehicle until after the incident. Russ remains in the Gregg county jail on 5-thousand dollars bonds. She was charged with injury to a child criminal negligence, unauthorized use of a vehicle and public intoxication.
