TISD Gets Financial Honors From the State

It's the second consecutive year for TISD to get a gold star on their financial management. The Texas Education Agency gave the district a superior, the highest possible rating, for this past fiscal year.

They got a new honor this time around too: The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials.

TISD Superintendent David Simmons says the honors are proof that the tax payers money has been used wisely.

"It means that every dollar that they entrust us to use is being dealt with appropriately and accounted for appropriately. I think it should give them confidence that there's very little room for mismanagement of the funds at the district and the campus level.

The TISD board will be meeting this Monday to vote on this year's school budget.
