Women arrested after busted with $58K in heroin on Turnpike
ELYRIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Two PA women are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 390 grams of heroin, worth more than $58,000, during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County Wednesday.
Troopers stopped a 2007 GMC Envoy with PA registration, for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 140 at 3:43 p.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the heroin.
Bernadette McClain, 36, and Chelsea Page, 23, were incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. They have ben charged with possession of heroin, which is a first-degree felony.
If convicted, both could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
