Kilgore twins help lead soccer team to regional tournament

Posted: Updated:

Twin brothers JD and Christian Perales share a love for soccer.  That's about all they have in common.

"We're way different," said Christian.  "We dress opposite, we act different."

Just ten minutes older, JD is the shy one. Christian likes to talk. JD has long hair, Christian goes with the short look.

Christian scores goals, JD stands in the way.

"He's the other half of me and I'm the other half of him," said JD.

The twins have been a dynamic duo for the Kilgore Bulldogs.

JD has been a wall in goal, breaking his own school record with 16 shutouts.

"I get jealous of him because he gets more publicity than me," Christian said.

Little brother is making his own mark, scoring 23 goals his first year on varsity.

"Some are luck, but some shots are amazing," said JD about Christian's goal scoring.  "His free kicks and the way he maneuvers the ball is amazing.

Playing soccer together since they were kids, nothing could match a trip to state.

"It would mean the world to us," said JD.  "For him (Christian) to experience this his first year (on varsity), it's what every older brother wants for his little brother. He's my little brother, I can't help but love him you know.

The Bulldogs play in the regional semifinals Friday at 5 p.m.
