Four churches robbed during Sunday service, woman arrested

YORK COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

A Rock Hill woman was arrested on larceny and drug charges after she stole from people attending services at four different churches in one day, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

The incidents happened on Sunday, April 7, at United Pentecostal Church on Firetower Road, Southside Baptist Church and Harvest Ministries Church, both on Anderson Road, and Neely's Creek ARP Church.

Deputies were dispatched to all four churches within several hours of each other, and all witnesses had a similar story – a young white female, wearing a pink top and blue jeans had walked in during Sunday services, acting suspicious.

In every incident, the woman talked to at least one person in the church, giving a different story every time. At one church, she said she was picking someone up. At another, she said she wanted to register her children for summer camp. In one incident, Wilson even took a small child into one of the churches with her, officials said.

The woman, later identified as Kori Jaynell Wilson, 24, left the churches in a hurry after being questioned. A short time later, church attendees noticed their belongings in offices, back rooms, and even their vehicles had been gone through and that items were disheveled and out of place.

At one church, Wilson even took $40 in cash out of a youth fund for camp that was in a back office, the reports state.

In all, Wilson took over $100 in cash, and a debit card.

After responding to all incidents, deputies were able to get a good description of Wilson and her vehicle, and she was located a short time later.

Wilson was then arrested and charged with 6 counts of petit larceny, 3 counts of forgery, and one count each of giving false information, resisting arrest, possession of meth/cocaine, and larceny/breaking into a motor vehicle.

Wilson was taken to the York County Detention Center and placed under a $62,790 bond.
