Mary Jean Wall elected President of the Ohio State Medical Association

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

Members of the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), Ohio's largest and oldest statewide physician association, have selected Bellevue diagnostic radiologist Mary Jean Wall, MD, JD, as president-elect.

Wall was selected during the OSMA's Annual Meeting this weekend in Columbus. She will become president in 2014, succeeding current OSMA president Neal J. Nesbitt, MD.

"I look forward to this wonderful opportunity to lead our association at a very important time for our profession," Wall said. "But in the meantime I will continue to work in whatever capacity I can to assist Dr. Nesbitt and to move medicine forward."

Wall presently works at North Central Radiology & Imaging. She is also the OSMA's 11th District Councilor and serves on the association's Governance Committee and Auditing & Appropriations Committee, which she formerly chaired, and in the past has served on the association's Licensure Committee and chaired the Membership Reorganization Committee.

Wall is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), Radiological Society of North America, is a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine and is currently serving on the Ohio Governor's Committee on Medicaid Expansion. She also served 13 years in the U.S. Army Active Duty and Reserves.

Wall graduated from Drexel University School of Medicine with a Distinction in Internal Medicine and earned her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University and has been admitted to the Ohio Bar.

    A man was killed in a one-vehicle wreck in Harrison County. According to a press release, a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling eastbound on US-80 when the vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle is identified as Lawrence C. Walls, 49, of Marshall. Walls was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Mike Smith. His body was transported to Meadowbrook Funeral Home. According to a report, the woman was followed into the restaurant by a Hispanic male.
