BOND HILL, OH (FOX19) -

A new program is teaching young people skills to be more self-sufficient as well as helping the community.

'Blueprint for Success' is a 9-month pre-apprenticeship construction training course, providing intensive support services, as well as educational and vocational training. The final project is a complete rehabilitation of an abandoned inner-city building.

Organizers say it promotes self-sufficiency, educating young people on a marketable trade as well as improves Cincinnati neighborhoods and fuels the housing economy.

Nearly 30 young men and women participate in the intensive program. To be eligible, participants must be between the ages of 18-30, have a high school diploma or GED and be a resident of Cincinnati.

Blueprint for Success is run by the Community Action Agency, which partners with several local community organizations and businesses.
