The 48-year-old man accused of causing an accident that killed a mom and her 2 children, faced a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Tuesday afternoon.

Eric Calhoun of Warrensville Heights pled not guilty to all 7 charges; 4 counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, 2 counts of aggravated vehicular assault and 1 count of failure to stop after an accident. The Judge set bond at $1 million.

The accident happened on Friday, 3/29/13 at 9:42pm at the intersection of Northfield Road and Berwyn Drive in Bedford.

Bedford Police say Calhoun failed to stop at a red light at the intersection and slammed into Maria Thorpe's car.

Thorpe, who was pregnant, and her four daughters were on their way home.

Thorpe and her two youngest daughters, Zariah Roberts, 8, and Zyanah Roberts, 5, were killed.

The surviving members of the family are Maria's two older daughters, Zumahya Thorpe, 10 who is in critical condition at Rainbow Babies and Children and Zalakah Thorpe, 12, who suffered only minor physical injuries.

Police say Calhoun refused a BAC test but police suspected alcohol "was a factor".

The Thorpe/Roberts benefit fund has been created to accept donations for the family. Anyone that wants to make a donation can do so at Huntington Banks.
