Fans enjoy 2nd annual Reds block party

The streets outside Great American Ball Park closed on Monday as a sea of red celebrated Opening Day.

The second annual Cincinnati Reds Community Fund Charity Block Party kicked off on Joe Nuxhall Way and Freedom Way.

Thousands of Reds fans enjoyed food, drinks, free entry and live music, all for a good cause. Proceeds from the event benefits the Reds Community Fund's P&G MLB Urban Youth Academy, a program that offers free baseball and softball instruction and education programs to Cincinnati youth, ages 6-18.

The block party is also a great way for fans to get excited for the 2013 season.

"There's so many people out here just rooting on the Reds today, and it's like a holiday for everyone. You say 'Happy Opening Day'," said Reds fan, Erin Phillips.

The event runs through the end of Monday's game.

Organizers say they hope to continue the block party in 2014.
