Friends and family of a Smith County man killed in a hit-and-run accident remembered him with a balloon release Sunday.
In April of 2012, Jacky Johnston, known to friends as "ZZ," was killed while turning into his driveway near 64 East near Chapel Hill. Johnston was on his motorcycle when a truck hit him from behind. The truck continued down the road for an entire mile, with Johnston's bike still lodged underneath.
In Kilgore Sunday, friends and family released 200 balloons in his memory. The man who authorities believe hit him, Eduardo Viramontes, has not been found. Last year, DPS said they had reason to believe he'd fled to Mexico. A warrant was issued for Viramontes' arrest last year.
