For two weeks Smith County citizens can receive a voucher to bring in three cubic yards of trash and bulky items for free to the Greenwood Farms Landfill.
The voucher can be used on a variety of items says manager of Republic Services, Zack Briscoe, "household trash, brush, and construction demolition debris."
Briscoe says, "the purpose in doing this is to keep Smith County clean. It gives citizens an opportunity to clean out their garages or get rid of some of that stuff that may be in the back yard."The vouchers can save a lot of money adds Briscoe, "Typically, its $7.75 a yard, the voucher is good for 3 yards. So, basically it's a $25 to $30 value."It's the fourth year for the countywide cleanup, and Briscoe says it's all in effort to make East Texas even more beautiful. "We've been partners with the City of Tyler and Smith County for over twenty years our goal is to be an environmental partner that the county and city can count on," says Briscoe.
Trash vouchers are valid from April 1st until April 14th. You can pick up your voucher at the Justice of the Peace and Constable Precinct offices or the Smith County Courthouse Annex, suite 100.
There is a limit of one voucher per household and businesses may not participate in the voucher program.
