Happy Friday, everyone,
We hope you're having a wonderful Good Friday and will enjoy a peaceful Easter weekend.
We've composed a list for you of things to do around East Texas this weekend, and you can see it by clicking right here.
Now onto the news:
Today on East Texas News at 4, we take you to Caldwell Zoo in Tyler to show you their newest babies, a pair of Rock Hyraxes. They're adorable and they've received their names, just in time for Easter! Check out these cuties at 4. We'll also show you an unusual burglar in a home who spurred a 911 call... they weren't human, we'll tell you that much. Stay tuned.
At 5, we'll tell you about a recall of Rich's Frozen Foods that were recalled due to risk of E. coli contamination. Please don't miss that, and check your freezer for these products when you get home tonight.
For Christians around the world, this day, Good Friday, begins a three-day observance of the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. One of those observances occurred this morning in Longview, and our Bob Hallmark joined the group to find out more about this symbolic outdoor Good Friday observance.
At 6: Next week, TxDOT hopes the Transportation Commission will approve their decision to fund thirteen air traffic control towers in Texas. Tyler Pounds Regional Airport is home to one of the control towers whose funding is set to be cut by the FAA next month. Our Melanie Torre explains why there could be concern for the plan that cities like Tyler are excited about.
And Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto will join us from the StormTracker 7 Weather Center with your Easter Weekend forecast. The forecast may dampen some of your plans, so watch Mark's forecast to be prepared.
We'll see you soon!
