Just in time for Easter, the East Texas Food Bank has received a donation of a whole lot of eggs.
Feather Crest Farms of Center, Texas, is aiding in the food bank's fight against hunger with 43,000 eggs, and they say they can always use donations of protein-based food products.
This is the sixth year Feather Crest has donated to the food bank just before Easter. Officials with the food bank say protein items are hard to come by.
"We get gifts like this into the East Texas Food Bank, and then, in turn, it goes on our ordering list to our partner agencies, our food pantries, our soup kitchens, and they will be able to get those eggs and deliver those to families," said Carolyn Davis with the food bank.
The East Texas Food Bank provides assistance to over 183,000 East Texans every year.
