Southern Miss takes down LA Tech in NIT Second Round

Southern Miss took down Louisiana Tech 63-52 in the second round of the National Invitational Tournament Monday. Dwayne Davis and Jerrold Brooks led the way for the Golden Eagles with 13 points a piece. Jonathan Mills added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Southern Miss avenges a 65-55 loss to Louisiana Tech on December 8th in Ruston. The Golden Eagles and the Bulldogs have met on the hardwood 72 times dating back to 1933.

Southern Miss improves to 27-9 with the win. The Golden Eagles will face BYU at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Reed Green Coliseum in the third round of the NIT.

This is the first time Southern Miss has reached the third round of the NIT since 1987, when the Golden Eagles won the NIT Championship over La Salle.
