Throwing a perfect game is rare enough.
What Gunner Baker did is the rarest perfect game of all.
During a 15-0, five inning, win over Gary on Friday, Baker threw his 2nd perfect game in as many years.
This time, not only did no one get on base, no one put a ball in play.
Baker struck out 15 hitters in a row.
"I just tried to stay relaxed and not think about it," said Baker.
He did admit, in the final inning, the nerves were getting to him.
"The last inning, the 2nd batter went 3-2 and that is when I started getting real nervous, I wanted to finish it out."
Gunner did, and it came with a sigh of relief from his father in the dugout.
"I did not get nervous about it until the 5th inning when they told me he had struck out everybody," said Rocky Baker. "Then the last batter came up and I got a little nervous. I've been doing this a long time and that's the first time I got nervous."
Dad could relax, Gunner got the last two on K's to finish the perfect game.
Carlisle is a perfect 13-0 this year and ranked #1 in Class 1A.
