EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A Freeze Warning will be effect for most of East Texas from midnight tonight until 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. All of the counties in light blue are under the Freeze Warning.

Skies are expected to remain clear and winds will settle down tonight to 10 mph or less for several hours, so temperatures are likely to drop into the middle to upper 20s for lows. We may experience freezing or below temperatures for as many as 6-8 hours. Please take all precautions necessary. Temperatures will likely get to the freezing mark shortly after midnight and stay there until 8 or 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.

You will need to protect your tender plants tonight by covering them. A fine mist will also allow the plants to get to the freezing mark and not below, if it freezes on the plant. This freeze could do significant damage to the flowers and budding trees here in ETX.

Also, please make sure your outdoor pets are taken care of. Food and a shelter of some kind will make them more comfortable as temperature drop into the middle to upper 20s.
