Freezing temperatures likely tonight

Posted: Updated:

A strong area of low pressure to our north and east continues to pull in colder than normal temperatures across East Texas.

Highs today will struggle to reach the middle to upper 50s in most areas with strong northwesterly winds making it fell even colder. As the area of low pressure moves farther away later this afternoon, winds will finally begin to weaken and this will set the stage for a very cold night.

With very dry air in place along with clear skies and light winds, temperatures will plummet after sunset. By sunrise Tuesday many areas will be in the middle to upper 20s. With light winds we will also see frost across much of East Texas.

Remember to cover your tender vegetation tonight or bring them inside. Also, don't forget about your pets as they will not be used to these chilly conditions.
