Livestock killed in Burlington barn fire

Posted: Updated:

A barn fire in Burlington kills some livestock early Friday morning.

Crews were called to a farm on Burlington Pike around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning.

The fire chief tells FOX19 that when they arrived, the barn was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews have brought in tankers of water to battle some hot spots that remain. The location is pretty remote.

Some pigs and cows were lost in the fire, others were able to escape.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital to get his vital signs checked but he is believed to be fine.

Fire crews say they aren't sure at this time what started the fire but the chief confirms electricity was connected to the barn.

FOX19's Shannon Sims will be live with new information all morning long.
