Motorcycle officer "running emergency" when struck at intersection

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A Tyler police officer sustained minor injuries after being hit by a car at a North Tyler intersection.

Around 9pm Wednesday, Officer Dion Reed, a motorcycle patrol officer with the Tyler Police Department, collided with a car at the intersection of Highway 271 and Loop 323.

Tyler police say Officer Reed was "running emergency," with his lights on but was not able to clear the intersection, resulting in the wreck. Because he was "running emergency," it has been determined that the officer was not at fault.

Officer Reed had no serious injuries, and the damage to the motorcycle was minimal.
