
The Kilgore College Rangers are headed home from the NJCAA Men's National Basketball Championship Tournament. No. 2 ranked Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) scored the final basket with 29 seconds to play in a 53 to 51 win. Kilgore's Maurice Taylor missed a game winning three pointer at the buzzer, that hit the rim.
Spartanburg moved to 33 and 0 despite trailing the Rangers 23 to 19 at halftime. Kilgore was led by Quinton Upshur's 13 points. No other Ranger player reached double figures.
Making a national tournament appearance for the first time in 19 years, the Rangers finish the season 27 and 5.
